Gimli is dwarf and is the son of Gloin. He is short and stocky, with great strength and a fierce fighter. Gimli arrives in Rivendell and meets at the Council of Elrond, he then decides to join Frodo and becomes a member of the Fellowship of the Ring. Over the years bad blood had developed between the dwarves and the elves. Gimli had his reserves about fighting along side with Legolas, but it turned out the two became best friends. In Lothlorien, Gimli becomes love struck by the Queen, Lady Galadriel. Throughout Lord of the Rings Gimli and Legolas fight side by side. During their travels they make a pact that after the War of the Ring they would travel together to see both Elven places and Dwarven places.
